The Alpha Phi Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in Orlando, Florida on the morning of February 27, 1965 at the Downtown Motor Inn. In the Fall of 1964, Soror Nelis Saunders, National Assistant Organizer, guided Sorors Pinkie Sanders, Prodell Carson, Amy Filmore, Rosetta Vereen, and Lillie K. Jackson in the forming of the Alpha Phi chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated. After many meetings and the recruitment of 13 young women, the Alpha Phi chapter was established. The Supreme Basileus Kay Davis of Dayton, Ohio and Soror Nelis Saunders installed officers and a member of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., Pinkie Sanders, was chosen by the group as its first Basileus. These 13 young women, known as the pledge club, began what has now been over forty years of service, sisterhood, and scholarship to the central Florida community. The members of the first pledge club initiated in February of 1966 are known as the chartering members of the Alpha Phi chapter. The chartering members are as follows:

Through the years, the Always Phenomenal women of Alpha Phi have upheld the purpose of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated and will continue to provide service to the central Florida Community. Alpha Phi works with the L. Claudia Allen Center programs, visits the elderly at the Guardian Care Convalescent Facilities, feed the homeless at the Salvation Army, raise funds for the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life event), and mentors to the youth through their four youth auxiliaries (Rosebuds, Phi-Teens, Jr. Cavaliers, and Cavaliers). The Alpha Phi chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Incorporated continues to be one that is devoted to service, destined to succeed, and dedicated to sisterhood through the members of this chapter and the two new chapters, formed through members of Alpha Phi, in the central Florida area. The two newly formed chapters are (1) the graduate chapter Xi Beta, and (2) the undergraduate chapter Alpha Sigma on the University of Central Florida campus. From those sorors who chartered to even Alpha Phi's newest members, serving in the chapter has been an invaluable experience that will be treasured for a lifetime.
